Last night 30 people came together to start a 6-week journey studying the book, Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer along with the scriptures that drive that study. As we introduced ourselves, it became quickly apparent that many needs were the same and many hope for a clarity and healing in their minds.

Here’s just a glimpse of some of the issues and reasons that people are in this class:

  • my mind is out of control
  • I need a place to bounce ideas off one another for clearer understanding
  • my work is a battlefield
  • my past affects my actions today
  • I’ve read the book but I’m having trouble applying the principles
  • it’s time to get serious about this message
  • I want to change the direction I’m going
  • I want to be more like Joyce Meyer
  • I looking for my identity
  • I need help making decisions
  • I just started the book on my own
  • my reactions to situations are not healthy
  • I want to straighten my path
  • I want to follow God’s path and relieve some of the stress in my life
  • I want to get into the Word more
  • I make mountains out of molehills
  • I’m tired of feeling guilty all the time
  • I want to recognized truth
  • I want to break the power of negativity in my life
  • I’m struggling with changes in my life over which I have no control
  • I’m still struggling with same issues over and over and over again

As we move through the next few weeks, it is my prayer that each person will seek diligently the path that will speak to the cries of the heart.

We listened to a 1-hour message that Joyce Meyer gave as an introduction to this topic. Some of her key points were…

  • Satan relentlessly seeks to build strongholds in our minds, twisting the truth, deceiving us into believing things that are simply not true.
  • We have weapons to defeat him, but we must learn to use them.
  • It is a spiritual war we are fighting. This war cannot be “fought” in the normal way.
  • A stronghold is an area dominated by an enemy.
  • Our weapons are the Word, Prayer, Praise, Worship, and Thanksgiving.
  • Remember, a deceived mind produces a deceived life; a negative mind produces a negative life. If these are true, then so is the opposite: a positive mind produces a positive life!
  • Never give up!
  • Where the mind goes, the “man” (or woman) follows. [emphasis mine]

Some of the scriptures she examined in her video:

  • 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
  • John 8:31-32
  • Luke 4:1-13
  • Romans 8:36-39
  • Romans 4:18-22
  • II Chronicles 20:17-22
  • James 4:2
  • I Corinthians 3:18
  • Romans 12:1-2
  • Matthew 8:13

My prayers are with each one of you this week. May God’s Spirit bless you mightily.
